Let's now see when you need to visit an optometrist

The problem in focusing or blurry vision:

If you are trying to see far away objects or objects that are near, or have a problem focusing on words while reading or seeing someone, you might need to get your eyes checked as soon as possible. Though it is not important that problems in vision always lead to Myopia (farsightedness) it could also happen due to lack of sleep or stress.

Eye pain

If you are facing infrequent and mild pain in your eye, there is no reason to worry  as this might happen due to lack of sleep or stress. Make sure to see an optometrist if the pain in your eye is intense as this may have been caused due to infections or some other serious health issues.

Eye fatigue

Ever since Covid-19 has entered our lives, our screen time has increased exponentially and this increase in screen time sometimes can cause eye fatigue. This fatigue can also happen due to seasonal allergies and flues which in turn can make your eyes tired but sometimes this can also be an indication of some underlying health issues. If you have any doubt about your fatigue in the eyes make sure to visit your nearest optometrist as soon as possible.

Eye infection

If you have swollen eyelids, itchiness, or redness or there is discoloration of the white parts in your eyes, you should visit an optometrist.

Light sensitivity

This can be a more serious problem. Light sensitivity is normally a common symptom in many eye-related issues. So, if you suffer from light sensitivity, book your appointment with an optometrist as soon as possible.

Dry or itchy eyes

This can be caused due to excessive screen time. Make sure to close and give your eyes some rest every five minutes while you are on your laptop or mobile phone screen. Drink loads of water and wash your eyes from time to time to prevent eye dryness.

Flashes, floaters and spots

These are no cause for concern. Floaters are mainly caused due to lack of protein and can happen due to ageing. Sometimes this may even indicate serious health issues like detached retina in which you might face clouds of floaters, flashes of light and swishy mists. This is a serious health problem. If you are facing anything like this, consult your optometrist as soon as possible.

It is also known as Diplopia and can occur on either of your eye's. Double vision is mainly caused due to astigmatism, dry eyes or keratoconus and other abnormalities in the cornea. In case you feel like you might have double vision, don't take it lightly and visit your nearest optometrist as soon as you can.

Conclusion

Although you should visit an optometrist at least twice a year, mak sure if you have any of the above-mentioned eye problems to visit your doctor and get your eyes checked for any underlying health issue.
